NITI Board Member, Dr. Linda Sue Warner Named Indian Educator of the Year.

|
NITI Board Member Dr. Linda Sue Warner, Comanche, was named Indian Educator of the Year by the National Indian Education Association. She earned an M.Ed. Degree from The Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma and holds a research appointment with the University of Missouri-Columbia, Truman Center for Public Policy. She has over 30 years of experience in Indian education. She began her career in the public schools of Missouri before entering the BIA service as a teacher in Alaska in 1974. Warner worked as an educator for the next eighteen years in Alaska, New Mexico, Kansas, and Arizona. After leaving federal service, she taught at the University of Kansas and The Pennsylvania State University and in 1996 assumed her position at the University of Missouri.

NITI Golf Team Takes 1st Place at the Gila River Golf Tournement.

The NITI golf team recently captured first prize at the Gila River Diabetes Center Invitational Golf Tournament. The Tournament was held in conjunction with the National Summit on Emerging Tribal Economies in Phoenix, September, 2002. The event was held at the Whirlwind Golf Club, Devils Claw course, a challenging, 7017 yard layout in Chandler Arizona. The course is owned and operated by the Gila River Indian Community.
Ending their round with birdies on the final three holes the NITI team, led by NITI Director of Golf and Finance, Bob Bradbury, shot a 6 under par 66 to win the tournament by 2 shots.
